Interested in joining us for danza?

We welcome everyone interested in learning with respect and integrity, and we ask that you offer something in exchange each time you participate in our community.

Whatever you can provide, please offer that as we grow our sense of reciprocity as a kalpulli as well as a sense of belonging to this community. We seek to create deeper relationships with one another through these practices, through our shared efforts and through the preservation of this living, breathing Indigenous wisdom.

Danza

Join us for mihtotillistli practice!

We welcome newcomers - no danza experience neccesary.

  • Make sure to hydrate throughout the day and come in clothes you can comfortably move in!

  • Sample schedule:

    • 6:00 PM We gather as a community to build an altar for practice.

    • 6:30 PM We begin practice by opening to the directions. During practice, we lead each other through danzas and practice cantos. We welcome questions to help ensure we fully understand and learn together in community.

    • 8:00 PM We end our danza and cantos offerings by closing to the directions. We end our time together by sharing food and drinks that people bring as offerings and share reflections on how the practice went, a check-in on how we are doing as individuals, and any invitations for the community. This closing circle using takes about 30 mins.

At the start practice, we'll share some guidance and direction for new-comers and beginners!

Come with an open heart and mind to learn. Learning danza takes a lot of time and effort so be patient with yourself and others. What matters most is that you have fun and move with intentionality!

  • We ask that you offer something in exchange each time you participate in our community.

Some examples are: flowers for the altar, food/snacks/drinks to share afterwards, monetary donations, building the altar alongside us, carpooling support, etc.
